At Brooks Landing Dental, our Nanaimo dentists use dental bridges to fill gaps left by missing teeth and help restore your smile.
What is a Bridge?
A dental bridge is a natural-looking restoration that literally 'bridges' the gap between missing teeth in your mouth.
Consisting of one or more artificial teeth, the bridge is attached to the teeth surrounding the gap to fill the space.
A bridge helps to prevent other teeth from shifting positions to fill the space and potentially becoming misaligned. This can lead to more serious dental issues, including gum disease.
The Bridge Procedure
You would usually need two dental appointments for a bridge procedure. Your dentist will first clean and re-contour your teeth, then take impressions. The impressions will be sent to a special dental lab to start creating your new dental bridge.
Once it's ready, your dentist will place your dental bridge by permanently bonding it to your existing natural teeth, crowns or implants, which will have been placed for this purpose.
Benefits of Nanaimo Dental Bridges
Each dental bridge will be customized to fit a patient's mouth. Because it fits you precisely, it should look natural and smooth on your teeth.
Dental bridges can help restore your teeth's natural contours, in addition to the bite between upper and lower teeth. Thanks to a bridge, your general oral health could also be restored.
